Jan Bo Kristensen's and
The Blind Bats Parachute Team's web site

I have sunset general updates on personal website. Sharing and communicating with family, friends and strangers though a web site is so last century. It's not very flexible, requires special tools, knowledge of programming and only supports my one way posts, with limited possibility for feedback, comments and co-sharing. In short more times goes into the tools than the content. I love to learn new tools but content is more important. I still enjoy the BBC syndicated news feed so I'll keep this as part of my website.

So does this mean that you just go in to hibernation and remove your self from cyberspace? No off course not! Don't be silly! It means that I will use general available tools and sites for all the content I usually has put on this web site. I have used this site for pictures, information about me, as my personal electronic scrapbook, details on my work life and career, voice my opinion on companies and issues that annoys me to the extent that I need to write something to get it off my chest. All these activities will continue in places where it's not blurred together but clearly separated to gain the maximum usability for the individual who what to participate. I will outline why I use different sites and provide badges or at least links to the sites I use regularly. Also take a look at the little gadget below. This is used for bookmarking and sharing and allows you to bookmark and share this page using your farvourite tool or application. I find it very useful.

So if you know me or what to get to know me connect to me on FaceBook. FaceBook is my choice for a social networking site. There are other sites. MySpace is probably one of the most known. I have selected FaceBook because it easy to use, have no geographical boundaries and people use their real name. On FaceBook I share some of my personal information, like my birthday, countries I have visited, skydiving statistics, some pictures, interest and other similar stuff. I think FaceBook is a great way to keep in touch with friends and family, and of course meet new friends.

Sometimes I travel and am in a place where I like to tell that I'm OK and just drop a line about my day. When I can't call or have limited time because I'm in a taxi or a plane, I can use a text message (SMS) to post a up to 140 character text line to Twitter. FaceBook have the same capability, but with Twitter you don't need to have an account and log in. Everyone can go to my personal Twitter page and read the updates I post. Twitter is also integrated on FaceBook so my status messages is also available here. Cool small application that provides a very useful function for me.

Part of this website was also to share experiences from around the world. This is equal to my personal scrapbook. This is just like a news story and fit perfectly in a blog. So I'm using blogspot.com for posting my "adventures". This is easy and fast enabling me to post large amounts of text with a few pictures as well. With the same id I can have several blogs so I have also created the "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark" blog where I can write (in Danish) about whatever annoys me enough to put words on it. Airing my dissatisfaction works as metal hygiene, so I can be positive in dealing with real live human beings every day.

To connect more formal with my colleagues I use LinkedIn and Plaxo. They perform similar tasks. I can outline my work history; provide my résumé and other work related activities. This is a nice way to separate my personal not so serious FaceBook profile with my more serious professional profile. Not that it matters much today as one Google search will reveal everything ever written by you on the internet. Just provides me with that comfortable feeling to have done something that I know deep inside is pointless.

One of the big challenges in a website is how to effectively manage and share pictures. I have used a lot of time making thumbnails and figuring out the best resolution to use in different situation. Today I'm using Flickr and Picasa as my tow mail sites for pictures. I prefer the Google Picasa because I can easily upload pictures, add descriptions and even place the location of the picture on the world map. Flickr is my second choice. I might use Flickr and Picasa for different content. Currently I'm just using both to get more familiar with the possibilities of the online photo album.

You can also find me on YouTube where you can view the few videos I have created and uploaded. Not my main thing, though. You will find my list of music video I like and other farvourite clips. On line Xbox 360 gameing it one of the big this I do so you can find my gamertag below. Log on to Xboxlive to add me as a friend or to send me a message. You can find me on the Danish Xbox 360 community site xboxlife.dk as well.

Last part of the page is various links and badges I'm experimenting with. Have fun and see you around. Remember the virtual world is flat and small compared to the real world that's big and round.

Yes I know nothing is here yet. I'm working on it. Couldn't make the flickr one work :-(.
